Those problems are unlikely to steam from Firestorm itself, but either from your hardware or (more likely) the stability of your internet connection. Second Life is very demanding, when it comes to both. If you are using a wireless connection, change to a cable, if you can.

Most likely cause is the region has capability failure.

Try logging directly into a different region & see if things are back to normal.  If they are, that region needs to be restarted.
