For instance, can I model my avatar, to look like to me?.......say from a photo???

Yes, the silders are pretty comprehensive for the shape, eyes are simple.

The skin and hair can be harder, but still possible.

Lots of people do this. Of course some say they, but you wonder, are they really that good looking in RL, and if so, why do they need to come to SL to look for someone's?

I know this may come as a shock but... not everyone who logs into SL is 18-25... or at least not any more.

 

Out there in FirstLife, people grow old, or ill, or move to remote hellholes with limited opportunities for social life.

 

In SecondLife, we are eternal, and unchanging (unless we want to change).
