They work like any other object in SL - you add them to your avatar. Most of the time there are many objects in the folder they come in; there should be a notecard in that folder, as well, telling you what you need to add along with the head object itself (alpha, eyes, teeth, etc., usually all included). Most come with a skin of some sort, but many skin creators sell appliers so your head can match your body. Most work with regular mesh (and prim) hair, no need for anything special.

The basics are the same as a mesh body, but with more parts; and you can buy things from other vendors to customize, if you like. Personally, I still don't think mesh heads are customizable enough and don't wear one myself, but some people swear by them, so it's really your choice. They can take a while to get the hang of, but so does most of the rest of SL. I'm sure you can look on youtube for tutorial videos for your head of choice.

 I've never tried one so have no idea how they work. I'm with you Ariel, I'm waiting for something customizable to be released before I'll consider one. I do like their pretty smooth noses though, it's sad that they're attached to weird plastic clone armies :smileysad:

meshbodyaddicts.com has comparisons and tutorials.

akeruka mesh heads are all going to be bento updated according to the creator.

i have one now ( which i enjoy) and i hope to like even more after bento. :)
