most likely you made a limit buy order.

Go to your order history ( manage button next to the buy button)

Look what order is still open

Check the exchange rate you entered.

If that rate is 269/270 it will come sooner or later.... 45 million lindens asked at that rates... will take some time

If your rate is way up ...the order will not fill soon, or even never.

Cancel it when that is the case and your USD will be put on your USD balance for future use.

If you want your L$ instantly, always do a market buy.
