my whole inventory is in my recent tab

Hi Nicole,

It sounds like your cached inventory list got corrupted. It's time to reload it.

Go to a quiet sim and select Preferences->Advanced and click "Clear cache". Then wait patiently for your inventory list to reload. If you don't see that happening, force the viewer to get the inventory list by searching for something. It'll take a minute or two but your inventory should be back to normal.

anybody knows how to fix this so only actual recent stuff shows in the recent tab

Go to your Inventory menu under the "recent" tab and then click on the button with the gear icon and select "Show Filters." Toward the bottom you'll find a setting labeled "Since Logoff" with a box next to it. The box should be checked to make the "Recent" tab work the way it's designed to.

Well, I do like Theresa's answer a lot more than my own. I think she's figured it out.
