Is it possible to make a semi-transparent avatar skin, like water?

Question

I haven`t tried it but what if you applied an Alpha layer over your whole avvie and then used the Tattoo layer to add your semi transparant skin?

Just a thought :)

The answer is, not really.

Alpha layers (and I am pretty sure tattoo layers) only support one-bit transparency. The alpha layer is either all on (invisible) or all off (visible) for any given pixel in the layer.

While technically you could do an alpha later that alternated pixels as 100% on and 100% off in a checkerboard pattern, I think the result is rather lacking.

Try using alpha layers to hide the body, and then using Tattoo layers to apply a semi-transparent 'skin'. Maybe that could work.

Yeah it definately won`t work with just the alpha layer, but the added tattoo layer seemed plausible...I`m not sure the result will be as desireable as the OP expects though because you would see all the junk in your head & I suspect that the limbs would suffer from the alpha clipping effect as you would see through to the other side of the limb, but I couldn`t think how else to try it. :)
