Hi Cadre,

To start, just drag the lamp from inventory into the view of your home in approximately the place where you want to put it. It won't be exactly where you want it, but it should show up (rez) where you dragged it. Once it's there, right-click on it and select "Edit". This will bring up the edit window. highlight the lamp and reveal axis lines along which you can drag the lamp. Each axis will have arrows that grow in size if you hover over them. You may then click-and-drag along the selected axis line to move the lamp. When you are happy with the location, click on something other than the lamp and/or close the edit window.

1. Find the lamp in your inventory.

2. Left click and drag/drop it at the selected spot in your home.

You will learn as time goes on that the servers sometimes won't let you rez an object where you want to.  This can be frustrating, but there's usully a good reason (well, "good" to the servers):

1. You might be trying to rez on a mesh object that the server says doesn't have a well-defined surface.  The solution is to rez your object somewhere else and drag it to where you want it.  It may be hard to rez objects in some houses with odd physics shapes (not Linden Homes) for this reason.

2. You might be trying to rez a large object too close tothe parcel boundary, so the srvers think that you are trying to rez on your neighbor's land.  Don't do that.

3. If your home is group owned and you have forgotten to wear trhe group's tag, the servers won't recognize you as a legitimate group member.  Wear the group tag.

4.  If you have already rezzed anough things that you are close to the Land Impact limit for your parcel (117 for a Linden Home), the servers won't let you rez anyhing that would cause you to go over it.
