My inventory is missing a huge amount of items. I've tried everything I can think of. Advice?

I've restarted.  Cleared cache.  Turned the whole computer off then on again.  The folders are there, but empty.  What gives?

After clearing cache, you may need to search for something to prod a reload. And you should be in a quiet sim, doing nothing, while that happens. Here's a more complete list of things to try...
