You didn't say what kind of buy order you placed. If you placed a best rate (limit) buy order, it won't execute until someone offers their L$ at the price you set. That might happen immediately or never or anywhere inbetween, depending on the price. To ensure a timely order execution, place an instant buy order. You may cancel any unexecuted limit order at any time and the funds will be freed to make an instant buy.
