Yes you can do this.  Just pull  up your other avatar's profile, hit 'pay' and enter the amount you wish to transfer.

An alt account is just the same as any other account, with the exception that you run them both. So you can send them anything that you can send to anyone else.

To pay money you can use profile or right click the avvie and select pay.

This may sound a little strange, but what I have discovered, and for many, many reasons - if you are not going to use your alternate account  that often - it is better to 'let' them hold *all* your Lindens.  Pay your main account whenever you need, but let the alt control everything.  Start a group with your alternate account; as you need two to maintain.  A group is great for purchasing parcels on mainland, etc.
