I bought Linden dollars but my balance hasn't updated. please help

How did you "buy" them?  If you used the instant buy option (that is, buying at current Market price), then your account should be credited right away.  However, if you ordered L$ with a Limit Buy (the Best Rate Buy option), then you might wait for a while until some other resident is willing to sell at the price that you offered to pay. Linden Lab has charged your credit card, so your money is being held in escrow, waiting for the order to be completed.  That's why there is a prominent notice on the BUY page:

Specify the amount of L$ AND minimum exchange rate you will accept. The LindeX exchange will match your order at the specified rate or better. It will take time to fill your order.

Remember, the LindeX is not a market.  It is a currency exchange.  If you offer to buy or sell L$ at a stated price, the exchange will try to match your order with the order from another resident who agrees to your price.  If there's nobody, you could wait forever.

When you but Lindens you buy from other residents not LL. If you chose a Best Rate Buy (Limit Buy) that allows you to specify the amount of Linden dollars and the exchange rate you are willing to accept. LindeX automatically matches up buy and sell offers as they come in. If your offer is too high it could take hours, days, weeks, or months or even never, before you get any $L's.

You can cancel the Limit buy and the money will go to your US dollar balance. You can cancel it on the LindeX: Transaction History page.  You can then use Market Buy to get Lindens almost instantly

Same thing is happened to me. even when i selected instant market buy option..my payment was taken but i have not been given my  L$ yet
