It is very rare that inventory is actually lost. But, there are somethings that cause it to NOT appear in your inventory. The leading caused is a poor connection to the SL servers. Having a good Internet connection does not mean you have a good connection to SL. Check your viewer stats (Ctrl-Shift-1). For more help see: http://blog.nalates.net/2011/10/26/troubleshoot-your-sl-connection/

Since this is your first forum post we assume you are using the Linden made SL Viewer and not using the preview grid. However, assumptions often cause problems. Use the viewer's HELP->ABOUT... to copy your computer specs and paste them in with support questions.

If you are using the preview grid and third party viewer then there are other possible problems.

The SL Wiki has a section on Inventory loss. It is horribly out of date and provides bad information. A more up to date help page is http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/fs_missing_inventory. While it is for the Firestorm viewer, in this respect all viewers are pretty much the same.

Just to add in addition to Nalates' excellent advice and to answer to your question about a phone number...

No, there is no way to get technical support on the phone.  You must be premium and use live chat or file a support ticket.  Neither is available to you for this issue if you have a basic account.  However most technical issues can be solved through the use of written resources such as the Knowledge Base, the SL wiki or third party sites like Firestorm's website.

As long as we're adding corrections ...  Chin Rey is right that anyone can submit a support case, but Amethyst was correct in saying that you need to be a Premium member to ask about technical issues.  Here are your support case options as a Basic member >>> http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Types_of_Support_Case

This is why most people come here to ask other residents for advice about technical matters.
