First of all, you can't use a bank account as a payment method, so I am going to assume you mean your credit card or your PayPal account was charged.

Second, the most common reason for this is that you selected a "Limit Buy", the window on the right that says "Best Rate".

When you choose this option, you set both the amount you wish to spend, and the exchange rate you want.  The current exchange rate is hovering around $268 per $1 USD.  If you offer to buy at, say, $L270 per dollar, you may wait a long time for someone to come along who's desperate enough to sell at that rate.  Even if you offer at a rate that's within the current trading range, you could wait quite a while...everyone else who put in orders before you has to be taken care of first.

While you are waiting for the order to be filled, LL holds your money "in escrow", which is why you show a charge on your account.  If you choose to cancel the order, the money will go into your $USD balance.

The way to get instant results is to use the "Market Buy" option, the window on the left.  You might not get the best deal, but your transaction will be processed immediately at the current exchange rate.
