Question

I upgraded to Windows 10.  Had text size problem. Found out about --noprobe and compatibility. Did what and try to uploaded a new version of the viewer. Ran into an abort on writing.  Now viewer will not load. Did an unistall and try again. Same problem with abort. Any good ideas?

"Abort on writing"?  That's not a Second Life message.  It sounds like a Windows message, telling you that you have a damaged file perhaps.  Without knowing anything at all about your computer or how you are connected to the Internet, it's hard to guess more than that.  I suspect, though, that the command line switches you have added aren't helping things.  The command --noprobe, in particular, is a message that tells the viewer to ignore the fact that you are trying to install it in a system where it doesn't belong.  Sometimes that's appropriate, especially if your machine has an unusual graphics card that the viewer is not programmed to recognize.  If the equipment truly is incompatible, though, ignoring it won't help.

For want of anything else to suggest, double check the System Requirements to be sure that your machine is appropriate for Second Life.  Then take a look at your system to see what type of graphics card or chip it uses.  Some lightweight machines, especially older ones, have Intel chipsets that cannot be used with Windows 10 because Intel does not provide matching drivers for them.  See http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005526.html
