I'm very interested about this... There are clear rules about posting in the SL Events calendar and yet I open up the events for the day to see this:

Is this ok?? They are not the only ones I've seen doing it.  But, as a club owner myself, if that's ok to do, then I'll start doing that too!

Thank you.

Doesn't seem "OK" by me.

Nor does it seem "OK" by the Event Posting Rules. A lot of the "events" listed don't (e.g., a "sale" is not an event).

Unfortunately, I see no facility to report offenders.

If you decide to "start doing that too" you not only lower yourself to the level of people who refuse to play by the rules, you also risk account suspension.

Word of mouth and recommendations from friends is my way to discover clubs.  My friends know my tastes. Once I go to a club a few times, if I like it I'll join their group but turn off notices and IM's because they are always too spammy.  When I feel like going to a club I check on the notices page of my groups to see what's going on.

Events are probably used mostly now days by new people.  Unfortunately only a few will tip and support the club.  Most are looking for free L's via contests and cash givaways.  It annoys me.  I'm there for the music not gesturbating staff urging me to join a contest.  That is the reason I don't use events other than to occasionally check to see when a live performer that I like is playing and where.

As a host, one club I work for requires I post in events. Some people still read events. I do see people post hiring all the time but yet nothing is ever done. Guess LLs has better things to do then to police events section.
