Voice recognition

Is there any voice recognition software that can be used in SL? I have trouble typing but most people I interact with don't use voice or keep the sound down so normal SL voice chat isn't really an option.

when i read your post i see two seperate things...

voice recognition would control the viewer itself, or parts of the viewer like txt chat.

the voice you mention in the second half of your post is about voice communication with others

Those are two totally different things.

The last is the easiest.. if they don't want to use voice in sl, why would they use another seperate program to do that?...

privacy?...it's totally possible to keep voice private, even with multiple persons.

Or just because they dont' like it? They won't like any other voice either.

Or perhaps they want to enjoy the sl environment... nature, music at fullest, voice would disturb that.

Keep in mind there is still a quite high amount of users who really don't like to use voice.

I would expect anything that works in the background that can send keyboard data into an application should work.

Try something like http://www.nuance.co.uk/for-individuals/by-product/dragon-for-pc/home-version/index.htm

I don't know if that works that way for all applications or just the ones mentioned, you could always ask them.

I know a couple of people who use Dragon Naturally Speaking with Firestorm viewer & it seems to work well. I presume it will work with any SL viewer.
