I have a premium account, with a SL "house". If I abandon it, can I have land of 1052 without extra

I have a premium account with SL and of course i have the SL house. I have heard that if I abandon the free SL house then i could have a larger plot of 1024 some place else without any extra land teirs or fees.  Is this true?

no that is no true

your max of free land included in your premium subscrition is 512 square meters.

If you want more you indeed have to abandon the Linden home, and BUY 1024 sqm  ( or more) but you will have to pay the additional tier level above the 512 that is included.

Also keep in mind the extra 512 will add 117 prims, but if you want to put a home on it it will fully count against the available prims. At a Linden home the house isn't counting.

Hello, Shawna Hird. I did not find what you are describing to be true. I am also a premium member. I abandoned my Linden home, rented land, purchased a home through the Marketplace, and placed it on the rental land. I thought I would be able to use the free premium land allotment of 512m (117 prims) to reduce the cost of the rental and add to the allowable prims; however, the Linden premium land/prim allotment is only usable for your Linden home on the mainland. If you rent land/space from anyone else, you will have to fully pay what they are asking for the land/space, plus any applicable land tier fee if you own more than 512m of land.

You can abandon your home and you will be allowed to purchase a 512 lot tier free from the mainland. If you are on a budject, you can find extremely cheap lots and then put a skybox in the sky or a skyplatform and then your house on it. I say this because if you are going for super cheap land, you are going to not have a nice view on the ground most likely.

Qbank's problem is that he/she RENTED the land. If you rent mainland or "buy" (rent) a parcel from another resident on a Private Estate, the free land tier benefit does not apply. This Premium benefit is ONLY applicable to MAINLAND that you BUY, either from another resident or direct from Linden Lab. You can take the benefit in either of two ways: a free Linden Home, or up to 512 square meters anywhere on the Mainland.

Shawna, if you want a larger parcel, you can apply your tier benefit to that land.  Say you bought a 1024 m2 parcel on the Mainland.  The tier table says that tier on 1024 m2 is $8.00 USD per month.  But you would only pay tier on 1024 - 512 = 512 m2, or $5.00 USD per month.

Alternatively, you can use that benefit to own MORE land without paying more tier.  Let's say you want to own the most land you can, at the $8.00 per month tier level.  You can purchase up to 1024+512 = 1536 m2.

To find mainland for sale, use the Search function in your viewer, Land and Rentals, View All Land and Rentals.  Or use the main Map and check "Land Sale" in the map legend.  Parcels for sale will show up in yellow.
