No.  You do the furnishing.  It doesn't take talent.  Just taste, but who's the critic?

Explore shops in world or browse in Marketplace.  Look for items that are within your budget and your land impact allowance (117 total for a Linden Home) and that fit your sense of decor (or whatever).  You don't have to put anything into your house if you don't want to.  Just use it as a place to change clothes, or dance, or um ....   A friend of mine, in SL for over 9 years, has never put much into her two-story house except a pool table, a sofa, a bed, and a few potted plants.  You can beat that.

ETA:  Take a look at https://community.secondlife.com/t5/Account/As-a-relative-new-premium-member-how-do-I-acquire-the-land/qaq-p/3041557 , posted earlier today. I didn't mention it to that resident, but if you choose to buy a 512 sq m parcel instead of using your Premium land fee waiver to pay for renting a Linden Home, you can do anything you want with it -- including renting it to another resident.  Basic members cannot own land on the Mainland continent, so there are always some who are looking for a place to rent.  Buy a parcel, pay the monthly fees with your Premium waiver, and collect the rent from whoever wants to live there more than you do.
