mining

I found a mining site.  I can buy the tools.  What I didn't see is where to mine.  Do I learn that after I buy the tools?

Nothing in Second Life is standardized.  So, when you say 'mining', that can mean anything from a decorative build that looks like a mine to a scripted game where you get points for shooting at sculpted rocks with a rapid fire puppy canon. ()

You're going to have to deal directly with the maker of the 'mine' location and what tools you may find.  Particularly before you buy anythin.  Otherwise, you may be throwing money away on a purely decorative rapid fire puppy canon.  ()

Didn't LL make some kind of game where you find crystals?

yeah That's Linden Realms but it's not a mining game. The crystals are right there in the open, you just run around and run into them. You don't need equipment.

Not sure but i think that you need a hud. So it's perhaps the equipment?

The HUD is automatically attached as part of the Experience. There is nothing you need to have to play Linden Realms.
