Logging in Avatar is a white oval object.

I downloaded the new viewer and it's not working. When I log into SL my avatar is just a white oval and doesn't rez no matter how long I wait or relog. I downloaded the older one and my avatar remains in busy mode now.

Create a folder, name it something easy to find so you can always keep it in your inventory for future use, like Normal Me or whatever.
Put a copy of your usual basic components in there...Skin, shape, eyes, hair (including bald base) & a basic shirt and pair of pants.
Right click on the folder and select REPLACE

or

Reset your avvie to default, depending which viewer you are using this is done here:
Advanced Menu >>Character>>Character Tests >> Test Male (or Female)
or
Developers Menu (ctrl alt Q)>>Avatar>>Character Tests>>Test Male (or Female)

Try rezzing somewhere else.

I have sent you a folder 'Katie Starter Avatar'.  REPLACE ALL with the contents of the folder.  You will look very different once you have rezzed completely.  Once you have rezzed, you can rebuild your avatar with your regular shape, skin, etc.  This has worked for me every time.  Good Luck!

you can also try changing your bald base often that fixes it immediately...strange but true

You are correct, that is true...It is a bug that corrupts one or more of the compulsory basic avatar components, bald base being one of them...the other 3 that can be affected are shape, skin & eyes...shape & baldbase seem to be the most common 2 that are affected but it can hit any of them

if you noticed but alot of ppl are having trouble with SL but i'm sure it will be fixed soon or you'll have to buy a premium membership.
