Question

Posted

I'm having trouble with feral canine avatars. The bodies are being stretched over a human shaped frame instead of a dog shaped one. I haven't seen thisw with horse avatars ar any other larger or smaller ferals. Its not 100% consistent, sometimes they load right and I'v had 2 on the screen at once and one looks right and the other does not. I really hope you guys can help me with this, its been bugging me for months. . .oh also relogging sometimes helps but not very often. . .using singularity viewer, havent tried another viewer.

Edit

I used the newest version of singularity, an alpha nightly version, very stable so far. The issue hs GREATLY reduced in this one but it still rarely pops up, usually just for a second as the avatar loads. THanks a ton for the info though guys, i had no idea what to call the problem and searching by "feral avatars" gave no results. Also also, I know singularity is WAY outdated but i havent found another viewer that i like as much, namely the left click and right click on avatar to control camera and walking.

Here's a Imgur link to how they render for me. (caution you can see the canines private bits)

first, try a viewer that's not obsolete or outdated as the singularity

you cn find 3rd party here or the LL here

(in case you would need official support always use the LL viewer)

please also add your system specs to your post ( edit the original)

in the help menu of your viewer you can see all together in one :)   copy/paste in the post.

That problem happens on all viewers, not just Singularity,

There are JIRA issue for that bug here:

BUG-3416 - Rigged mesh avatars not reliably loading joint positions. (not public)

BUG-11157 - [bENTO] Mesh joints not loading reliably (public refile of issue above)

BUG-11310 - [bENTO] Repro for avatar shape being deformed after removing rigged mesh - requested by Vir (related problem).

LL have added a work around for this problem in Project Bento

When using the Bento viewer, if you see an avatar deformed like this, you can right click the avatar -> Reset Skeleton.

That will fix the problem.

You can download the Project Bento viewer here: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_Project_Bento/5.0.0.315657

Active third party viewers will release with the Bento feature once Bento has been released as the main LL default release.

I'm unsure if Singularity will release an updated viewer though as they have not had a viewer release in over a year, you'll have to ask the Singularity devs about that.
