My avatar has a beam of light that surrounds me 360 degrees where I walk. How can I change?

i think you don't have to look at your preferences but at the "worn" tab of your inventory.

It sounds for me like you'r wearing a, horrible badly made facelight/bodylight

If you find it, take off (and delete) and all will be ok again.

Facelights are totally outdated since windlight came in the viewers.

Only in rare occasions facelights might work for special photo's/modeling, for sure not for general use in public.
