You buy furniture from Marketplace or from in-world shops, or you make it yourself if you are skilled enough.  You bring it home in your inventory and use your mouse to drag in from inventory to the floor in your house.  Here are a few articles that might help:

Linden Homes don't come with furniture.  You have to buy or make your own.  You can find many many pieces of furniture at store in Second Life or on the Marketplace section of this web site.

If you are asking how to put your furniture in your home, then simply drag the item from your inventory and drop it on the floor of your home.  To change its position, right click it and select Edit.  Use the colored arrows to drag it around.  Hold CTRL+SHIFT to rotate it.
