Sarah36 Islay Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 Since I got scammed a few yearsago in Sl, I have been very wary of what I except. Often I get notecards sent to me from shops, etc. Is it safe to except a notecard?
0 Rolig Loon Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 Yes. A notecard is not rezzed in world and is not executed by the servers, the way a script is. It's just a text file. 1
0 Alwin Alcott Posted May 26, 2016 Posted May 26, 2016 i'd like to add ... you can't be scammed by objects unless you allow it/give permissions. Biggest troubles these days is clicking malicious links in chats where you have to enter pw and username.. only click links to MP or other Linden sites when you can go by https, or directly from your own browser or the official homepage. 1
0 Lindal Kidd Posted May 27, 2016 Posted May 27, 2016 Most scams in SL take one of two forms: An object that requests permission to take money from your account when you rez it in world or wear it A link, given in IM, local chat, group chat, email, or even in a notecard, that leads to a phishing site. If you click the link, you see a page that asks for your user name and SL password. If you enter your user name and password, the scammer can get access to your account. Simply accepting a landmark or a notecard is perfectly safe.
