If you're able to see profiles from your web browser, then we might be able to blame the viewer's built in browser. I don't like the built-in browser, so I've set up my viewer to "Use my browser for all links" in Preferences->Setup. If that works for you, you can either keep that setting or try re-installing the viewer.

There is a bug in the current versions of the SL Viewer that means it won't always log on automatically to the profiles website. The solution is simple although rather annoying: When you try to open a profile and login fails, you'll see a padlock icon at the top right corner of the profile window. Clicking on that will take you to a page where you can log on to the profile site manually. If you check the "Remember me" checkbox, the viewer will remember until you log off, if you don't, you'll have to log back in each and every time you want to see a profile.

Oh btw, somebody may say that bug has been fixed in the very latest version of the viewer. It hasn't.
