Hi I haven't been here for ages, but I liked to fly around, but now it seems it has all changed?

So simple, in fact, that I don't even know what the question is.

Are you asking how to fly?  My two favorite ways to start are (1) hit the Home key on my keyboard or (2) hold the PgUp key down for a second or so. Once I'm in the air, the arrow keys and PgUp, PgDn take care of the rest.  There are other ways too, but that's how I've been flying since 2007.

Flying is disabled in some regions and by some land owners. Find a location that allows flying. World menu, Parcel Details, Options tab (the About Land window, which you can also get by right clicking on the land) will show what is allowed and what is not.

...but some areas have flight turned off.

It's the land owner's choice.  Some roleplay areas prefer to disable flight because, for example, people did not fly around in 1920's Berlin, or the Old West.

There are ways to get around this.  If you are already flying when you enter a flight-disabled area, you will continue to fly...until you land, and then you are grounded.

Or, you can override the land setting with the "always fly" command in your Advanced menu (CTRL+ALT+D).

However, if you fly about in a no-fly zone, don't be surprised if the land owner ejects and bans you for flauting her rules.
