really?

when my older account got 10 Ebbe himself was at the door with a special cake and flowers for my partner.

Perhaps you weren't at home when they came to visit?

Are you sure they didn't leave it at the neighbours?

Wow you got Ebbe! All I got for my 10th year here next year was L$1,000,000 presented by the Chippendale Dancers.

Just out of curiosity, how old are you in RL? Aside from a system generated email, does any other website or game celebrate your birthday? Do real world institutions do anything special for your birthday? Does Microsoft throw you a party as thanks for sealing their monopoly in your life? Does Google send you flowers for making your way around the sun and fueling their hilariously supervillain business model? Does the grocery store you go to every other day plan a surprise party? Does your dentist give you a free cleaning on your anniversary? No, because these things are ridiculous.

What do you expect LL to do?

You are too young to remember it but LL used to acknowledge your rez day, even your first one, with at least a cake and/or card. So it isn't out of line to expect some acknowledgement for a 10th anniversary.  Not many oldbies are around anymore.

My 10th is coming up soon, we'll see if Ebbe shows up at my door.  I highly doubt it lol.

Google doesn't need to worry about losing customers. Nor does Microsoft. They have monopolies and actually have products that work decently. And besides, they don't know my birthday, so why would I expect them to send me anything? I do get coupons/gift cards from several other major brands on my BD. It's kinda stupid, but it's called a "loyalty program." Some of these programs work and keep people loyal to the brand.

SL is still struggling, at best. You would think they'd try to keep customers. A robo-call to my sim, or automatic email ain't no big thing to program.

I started when 6,000 avatars in-world at the same time was a huge deal. SL was an actual community where you built friendships with people from around the globe. I've stuck with this because I enjoy building and learning new things. I could even be a model for the type of customer they should be marketing to. But alas, they've ever asked me why I play or why I don't.

What my RL age has to do with this is irrelevant.

I am 10 this year since March. I got nottin! lol Actually I don't remember them doing anything for any of my B-days.

Not mad about it. SL is slowing loosing its grip on me anyways. I need to retire! SL was a different place 10 years ago. Most of my friends I made then from all over the world are still good friends today. Seems people come in here now lookign for other things. Just kinda sad.

I did volunteer for SL13B. Will give me something to do in here in  spring & summer :)

My 10th anniversary for my first avatar came and went this week without a boo from LL or anyone associated with the game. And they wonder why this concept failed? SMH.

Which game?  LL only built the engine, the objects, scripts and everything else is resident created.  including whatever game you have been playing in SL.

I like the failed concept comment, tho.  I hope all my risks also fail so badly that they generate positive income for over a decade. That is just lame. Sado-Masochist Hommie!

My 10th will come up in October. It never crossed my mind that LL would care. Many residents of my generation feel abandoned by LL. Those of us who remained did so with a heavy heart, retreating into whatever personal projects and relationships were important to us locally. All my friends of 2006 are gone. Now LL wants to build Blue Mars Sansara instead of understanding what made SL initially successful and rebuilding it in line with those principles. I wonder if any of us will have a 20th birthday or even a 15th.

Actually I was secretly pleased on my RL birthday that my brower's 'google doodle' had a birthday cake for me.

Congratulations Rocky 10 years in SL is indeed something to celebrate.
