how do you use the second life wiki

It's pretty straightforward, actually.  The Main Page contains links to all of the Second Life policies , community resources, and various resources for business and marketing. Most of the wiki is dedicated to resources for creators, though, so you'll find portals to things that scripters and builders use very heavily. In addition to all of the material that is quite easy to get to, there is a mountain of stuff that is buried in odd places that you can sometimes discover with Google.  Most of us who have been in SL for a long time have built up our own collection of important pages in that "hidden" category.

If you are looking for basic "How does SL work?" stuff, though, your best resource is not the wiki but the Knowledge Base, which you get to by clicking on the tab at the top of this page.  Or you ask here. ;)
