when I import my SL avatar into poser 2014 the joints don't seem to be recognized, why?

I am not an experienced animator, so I could be way off base here...but as far as I know, you can't import a rigged avatar out of Second Life.  Skin, yes.  Shape, yes, via writing down the appearance slider settings.  Bones...no.

Use an avatar like the default one included in the free QAvimator software, http://qavimator.org/
