I am looking for a way to tighten up the list of unique identifiers for avatars in my scripts. Avatar names seems a logical avenue to use as each is unique. I have the names from LSNameWatch.com but I do not know how complete this list is. From my analysis of that database it seems only the first 13 characters of last names would be significant. If there was a more complete list (e.g. if any names are missing from the SLNameWatch list) I could be certain to be able to not overlap any and thereby cause someone to miss out on a gift, for example.

I know about UUIDs but using the avatar's names will probably take less memory to store. All I need are unique identifiers to put in the database of the script to track who has been given a gift so each avatar can get one, then when others want one they can get one too. I want to avoid a hash just so I don't have the chance of someone not being able to get one. Thank you for your replies.

I doubt that there's anything more reliable than SLNamewatch.com.  Even if there were, of course, the list would only be relevant to avatars born before 2010, when all new avs started getting the proletariat name Resident.

i really don't see why you have to know all avatar names.

The example you mention to send gifts scares me a bit... every name you find gets a gift??

wanna bet you'r reported over 50k times for spam?
