It's time I asked this. CTRL-V (paste) works perfectly well in everything except this forum. It's supposed to work here but, when I try to use it to paste some text into a post, a box pops telling me to use CTRL-V. Why?

Because it's borked?

It works for me on IE10 and Firefox but it tends to move the cursor around in the edit box so I am never sure where the pasted selection will wind up.

That's it then. I've been using Microsoft Edge (that comes with Win10). I'm now using IE11 and it works fine with it. So I'll stop using Edge.

Same reason that google docs and similar services prohibit similar behaviour.

Yeah, this is really aggravating.  Lately, when I paste anything using ctrl-v, the cursor is sent to the top of the post.  This is obviously not expected behavior and needs to be fixed.

That's a differerent problem to the one I have. My problem is that I can't paste at all when using the Microsoft Edge browser. Instead I get a pop-up telling me to use the very keys that I'm using - ctrl-v.

And besides, you know me well enough to know that I shy away from things as much as possible, and keep my head well below the parapet

Add a comment to the JIRA, I suspect these Ctrl-V problems are related.
