first thing to try:

shut down your machine, than router and/or modem

restart modem/router

wait til it is up and running

restart your machine...

this mostly solves it.

If it doesn't , type DNS in the searchbox at the top of this page, you will get several answers to try out

I performed a Global DNS check to see if Linden Lab servers were generally accessible from anywhere in the world this morning and found that if you are in Brazil, you may be having issues accessing Second Life.

https://dnschecker.org/#A/lindenlab.com - Failed for Brazil [required to log into the GRID]

https://dnschecker.org/#A/secondlife.com - OK Globally

So if you are not located in Brazil then the issue is with your PC/Router/Local ISP.

Possible Solution:

In this case using a Publicly Available DNS Server may help you.

Below is a link to the current set of available Public DNS Servers you can use other than the ones your ISP provides...

http://pcsupport.about.com/od/tipstricks/a/free-public-dns-servers.htm

...with detailed instructions on how to change your system DNS values here:

http://pcsupport.about.com/od/browsers/f/change-dns-server.htm

EDIT:

https://dnschecker.org/#A/lindenlab.com - OK Globally Now! [required to log into the GRID]
