Why do you delete an event and then when you go to repost, it shows a duplicate and won't allow it?

The resolution is to NOT to Delete an event. Edit it and make any necessary corrections and save it. The Edit option is right next to the Delete option. Deleting the event schedules it for "Deletion" by the LL Event Calendar utilities when they next run. These are coordinated with the indexing generation services that allow people to search for Events both in-world and via the Event Page on your Dashboard.
