I bought some articles of clothing and such recently, but only got a board?

I bought some items recently, and I received them in my inventory. However, when I go to put it on, it's literally just a poster board. How do I actually wear it?

As soon as you can, I suggest visiting Caledon Oxbridge University in world to spend time with their excellent tutorials.  It's a good way to start learning the basics.
