Hi there, we currently live in a world where many people suffer from psychological disorders. Mental health can be, at times, an under-rated but very valuable resource. I'm a psychology major and while I am still working on my degree, I've very interested in starting a resource for the people of second life where those who need some kind of psychological help can receive it. We have several therapy related positions available. We are not requiring our employees to have anything except the basic knowledge of how to handle clients and on approaches to clinical psychology. You do not need to have a degree or doctorate to apply, although our positions are going to be very competitive and the best applicants will be hired. Please contact Daniton Resident in world or email me at Ldanielle235@gmail.com for an application and to set up an interview time. Thank you very much!

I'm not trying to ruin your business or anything but running a Mental health clinic in sl is kinda a serious Issue unless your a Real therapist with Degrees and your employees the same.. with no training in the feild for your employees and giving less than accurate information to people who might take up your serivces

Just be careful

I absolutely understand yout concern! We would not in anyway offer professional help unless an employee was certified. We would how ever offer someone confidential to talk to at much cheaper prices than real therepy. If a client or individual wants to seek out professional help outside of the game we would try our best to seek out those real world resources and provide them with it. Without a professional on staff, you are absolutely right. So more like mental health resource rather than mental health clinic. Thank you so much, Ashy, for bringing that up since it is very important. :)

LOL.

Dancer/escort/model, wedding planner, boudoir photographer, and now psychology major starting what certainly sounds like a mental health clinic.

(Tell me, what do your professors think of this idea, DaniTon? Oh, you didn't consult with any of them about it? Something tells me they'd think it was a really, really bad idea.).

Oh, well. At least she's well-rounded.

Actually her an I have a history of her constantly posting on my stuff and me repeatedly asking her to stop, politely I might add. And yes, I am actually a psychology major in real life. The rest is how I got my start in second life but psychology is a true passion of mine. I honestly feel very rideculed for trying to create a resouce to help people a little. While no, it's not anything close to therapy, I find that just having someone to talk to can help a lot sometimes. If you'd like, you can even make an appointment to talk and my staff or I would treat you very respectfully and with lots of acceptance. :)

Your motives may be altruistic but you are playing with fire.

By identifying yourself as a Psych Major and offering services you are assuming a professional status.

If you don't understand what I just said I'd suggest you talk to your teachers about it.

Or haven't they warned you about the dangers of practicing with out a licence?

Your welcome.. and if your intending to do this.. First get a License in your state and than hire only people who have degrees and that you can screen and make sure all information is correct cause if your don't you could be facing legal issues

To Barbie,

I hope you don't mind me giving you some advice, but I would definitely recommend seeing someone in your local area who is specialised in autism and any other mental health problems you are facing.

I'm not sure where you're located, but if you're in the UK, counselling on the NHS is free.

I'm not sure how the US works, but I'm sure there are hotlines/advice groups available to offer some help to you.

I wish you all the best.

To DaniTon,

I think this idea had good intentions, but there's a major risk of it doing more harm than good. Perhaps it would be best to leave it to professional counsellors/Psychiatrists? Or maybe, there's a more official way of going about this as the idea is definitely good - maybe get in touch with someone from LL to see if there's any way of creating some kind of professional support group or something? I think that could definitely be beneficial to lots of people who use SL and who also are struggling with mental health issues.

Thank you for posting this link, Pamela. The OP is apparently looking to make a quick buck in SL, possibly at the expense of people who need real help from qualified therapists. Taking a few college psychology classes doesn't make someone a trained therapist.

Good.  You should be ridiculed for putting people in danger by trying to pass yourself off as someone capable of providing them with "Psychology services"... when, in reality, you've no such capability whatsoever.  I mean, ffs... you're trying to hire people with, "basic knowledge of how to handle clients and on approaches to clinical psychology," while, in the next sentence, stating, "You do not need to have a degree or doctorate"... are you kidding me?

You're blatantly trying to hire people to provide psychological help, who've no business messing with other people's minds.  If you don't see how dangerous that could be, then I suggest you seek the services of a real-life psychologist to see if they can, hopefully, help you face reality.

...Dres

Hello Dani, I understand that your intentions are good, but having been in SL for 8 years and run a community for 5 of those, I have to say that SL attracts damaged people that need real life help not some well meaning platitudes. I've had to deal with people coming to me with long term depression, bipolar issues, gender reassignment issues, people who are not accepted in their reality because they are gay or different ... And every time I have said to these people, here's helplines in reality, here's websites, I'm not trained to help you. Even if I really felt like I wanted to and of course there are times, I wouldn't want something to go wrong, mislabelling someone's psychosis etc, and for it to be my fault because I hadn't handled it correctly.

"Emotional vampire" comes to mind. Also if this was true "psychology major in real life" then you would know 80% of diagnosis is body language and real world interaction for which you can not do in a virtual enviroment.
