My Recent folder is not working properly.. It has my whole inventory in it and does not clear

It sounds like you have set the time range filter on the Recent tab to a very long time (like maybe the entire lifetime of your account).  So reset it.  Click the little gear icon in its lower left corner and select Reset Filters.  That should make it show only the things that have been added since you logged in.  Alternatively, you can select Show Filters and set a time range that you prefer.
