Farthington Whetmore 8
I recently bought into the DCS system based on claims on their web site of "4,000 configured Regions and over 175,000 unique players" However, their stats dramatically fall short of reality...So I am wondering what the Best Combat Meter is with the most active community as I want to incorporate combat on my Sim. Thanks in advance for your replies.Cheers!

Farthington Whetmore 8
"Allow me to rephase the question: " What is the CURRENT Best Combat Meter?
steph Arnott 344
There is not one, closest i can think of is the star trek community. Main problem is people get bored. Just becouse as you said in the OP does not mean it wrong count, people register and never do anything. Best to create your own group.
Farthington Whetmore 8
I am not taking about making a group or creating a community - I have plenty of groups and hundreds of members! I am simply looking for information on exisiting combat meters with active Dev support and communities along with opinions and experiences with them....
Vivienne Schell 331
Depends on what exactly you want. Personal Shooter/Combat: Chaos (free) - Look up "Chaos Combat System" on the maketplace). It´s simple and very effective. And yes, VICE, which still works fine with adequately scripted vehicles and airplanes and whatsoever. For more advanced stuff (server routines, additional capture roleplay tools, role setting and so on included): Still, the Gorean Meter (GM), old but still OK and free, but it includes some stuff you may or may not want to use. Then there is DCS, which is widespread, working, but very complex. Additionally there are a few custom, very advanced meters and roleplay systems aound which were and are are developed by people who are not overly interested in sharing the scripts - mostly owners of dedicated roleplay sims. Just take a look aroud at such places (Check the destinaion guide)!

I could not tell you which is currently the 'best' if such a thing even exists. All I can add is that most of these are being zealously chosen for financial or political reasons, not the technical ones which users generally care about (and which will become abundantly clear if you ever see the clumsy source material). P.S. Greetings to JS who will be reading this by now. Come back!
steph Arnott 344
As i said there is not one, most of the code is such a kludge of out of date functions that the best place to get feed back is to go too one of the big groups and ask them. There is also the additional problem that they tend to reqiure an external server for data, which needs a dedicated owner to keep up to date and that brings you back to a large group. Not the answer you want, but they iare the facts.

If they require an external server instead of letting you use your own Experience, they're obsolete garbage. Only thing is, that probably includes every single one of them. Bobbie Faulds 284
not sure about DCS or CCS but UCE is fairly new. You can get the started for the subscription on then MP then use the default setup or you can develop your own races and skills.
