Why are some people called "Residents" and others not?

The last name of Resident was used after LL stopped allowing people to choose last names.  Scripts still require last names, so Resident is what is  used when the person has no last name.

Unfortunately there is no way around it.  However you can use your Display Name and choose both the first and last name that you want.
