Try Shoutcast.  Go to their website and select the genre you want and net radio stations that play that kind of music will come up.  Select the station you like then download it to Winamp and hit ALT+3 and you will find the URL you need to play it on your land.

The Vibe of Vegas 181.fm seems to be popular with a lot of places i've been to in SL, so I even use it on my own land.  It does has some ads, but not too bad

Assuming you don't have winamp....

Take a look at www.shoutcast.com to id stations that are playing content you want to hear.

Then Lets say you want Nature Sounds...

Go to

http://www.shoutcast.com/radio/Nature

Pick any MP3** stream link and right-mouse click on it. Select the Save target as... ????.pls to your desktop. Open it with any text editor. Inside you will see something like the following:

[playlist] numberofentries=1 File1=http://88.80.200.195:8000 Title1=(#1 - 13/80) stream.silent.li organic relax radio: nature sounds Length1=-1 Version=2

The Land URLs is the http://....at File=1

In this example http://88.80.200.195:8000

P.S. ** It's important that you pick a station broadcasting streaming MP3 because the FMOD service that comes with SL only recognizes and supports this method.

I agree with you I think Shoutcast is a good option.
