i need to start over. i have made my avatar invisible

You are probably still wearing the alpha layer that was hiding your real body while you put on a mesh body to cover it.  If you forget to take off the alpha layer, you'll still be invisible.  So, open your inventory, find the folder that has that mesh avatar you were just wearing, and detach the alpha layer that is in it.  You should be visible and possibly naked.
