That's the first time I have heard that particular description, but it sounds like a simple case of common "bake fail".  Your avatar appearance information is all stored in Linden Lab servers and downloaded as you log in.  Until login is complete, you always look like a fluffy cloud or, I suppose, a white Easter egg.  Occasionally the default appearance will get stuck if your Internet connection is a little wonky.  Hence, bake fail.  Here's what you do about it >>> http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/fs_bake_fail

Hehehe! It's true, not commonly reported.

Reason for it being a solid 'egg' is that the OP is rendering in Basic mode, so no particles.

The spheroid that is the unrendered avatar gets seen because (I think) alpha is also disabled.

Yeah. I wasn't going to get into the solid vs fluffy part. It's just the Easter egg description that I found refreshingly different.

There are two primary causes of Bake Fail. A weak connection or an outfit/Inventory problem.
