Hey I just have a quick question, I've started learning how to mod for SL and I've just learned how to paint onto an object directly in blender. Originally I was fixing seams with deep paint and liked how I could turn the ambient light up and the spotlight down so it's easier to see my changes without dramatic shadows. I can't find any direct references on how to do this in blender, I've tried adding lamps but nothing ever seems to change in the 3d view. Can you help me out? I'm a little overwhelmed.

Hi :)

I have only a little experience with painting directly on mesh in Blender  but as far as I know the usual set up is without any lighting from lamps and the viewport shading set to Texture.

In the images below I have taken screen shots of the 3D viewport in Texture paint mode.

Image 1 and 2 are with a Hemi lamp in the scene ,1 with viewport shading set to Solid and 2 set to Texture.

Images 3 and 4 are without any lamps. The usual set up for painting is shown in image 4.

Note: Just in case you don't know already.... the little icon I have highlighted in green in image 4 can be very usfull when painting, (especially if you tend to splash paint all over the place like me). With this icon enabled only faces that you have selected will recieve any paint.
