Any way to make it so pressing the enter key doesn't enter me into nearby chat?

I'll have a chat with a friend going and then deselect that window to move around and then I hit enter again, thinking I'm talking in the window that I have open, I'll start talking in nearby chat (a channel I amost never want to talk in to be honest). Is there any way to make Second Life default to the currently open channel and not the nearby chat one? I'm on Firestorm. (If there's a way to do it in the regular SL viewer I'm all ears for that too).

Nope.

Talking in the wrong window (or in local chat) is a perennial problem in Second Life.  It can provide some moments of truly profound embarrassment.  Like, um...life.

as soon you do the slightest thing else than being in chat you in fact select another function, so for sl you'r not longer chatting. when you want to talk/type again you will need to click that used chatwindow again.

Only thing that doesn't act on this clicking is voicechat.
