Voice was working earlier in the night i logged back on to find that the indicator was red and that it could not connect to the voice server as of 7:35PM PST 12/1/2015

Voice is a flaky service, even on a good day, but there's no system-wide problem with it right now.  Try opening Preferences >>> Setup and lowering your Maximum Bandwidth slider so that it's between 700 and 1000 kB/sec .  Some people occasionally set it too high, under the impression that they will get more bandwidth that way.  In fact, though, Second Life rarely needs more than about 1200 kB/sec.  If you set the Maximum Bandwidth setting too high, it can mean that your viewer is starved of the bandwidth that it needs for voice and streaming media, which are separate services.
