Hi Tom,

Viewers sometimes misreport your Linden balance. If your web dashboard also shows zero balance, then the money really is gone. And if that's the case, check your transaction history there to see where it went. If you recently were given an object that requested access to your Linden balance, it may have sent money to someone else. You could file an Abuse Report against the person who gave you the object. Here's how...

The Lab will probably not refund money lost in this way, as it considers such transactions to be user-to-user issues, in which they do not get involved.

If you think your account was hacked, immediately notify Linden Lab via a support case...

https://support.secondlife.com/create-case/

Select "Account Issue" from the first drop-down and "I believe my account has been compromised" from the second.

Good luck!

No.  Installing a new viewer will not affect your L$ balance.  Your account is on the Linden Lab servers.  Your viewer just reports what's there and is your tool for telling the servers what you want to do in SL.

Open your dashboard at secondlife.com >>> Account >> Transaction History to see everything that has happened to your L$ in the past 32 days.  You'll be able to see where L$ came from and where you spent it.  If there are things there that you do not recognize, give the Linden Lab billing office a call and get their help understanding it. If you have a non-technical issue related to billing concerns, you can call the Linden Lab billing team at the following toll-free numbers at any time 24/7:

US/Canada: 800-294-1067
France: 0805-101-490
Germany: 0800-664-5510
Japan: 0066-33-132-830
Portugal: 800-814-450
Spain: 800-300-560
UK: 0800-048-4646
Brazil: 0800-762-1132

Long distance ( not free, but you can use Skype to save some cost ) : 703-286-6277
**Note: Support is offered only in English

Two additional notes, one trivial and one serious ....

1. If you are simply looking at the L$ balance that is reported on the screen in your viewer, don't panic.  That number isn't always reliable.  Believe only the numbers in your dashboard.

2. If you have reason to believe that your account has been compromised, follow these instructions immediately >>> http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Account_Security
