Hi Ivory,

That message usually means that your computer (via MAC address) or your IP address have been banned from SL. If you've done nothing to warrant a ban, it's possible that you were recently re-assigned a new IP address by your internet service provider, and that address has been banned. If you recently purchased a new router or broadband modem, or switched service providers, that may be the cause. Cycling power on the broadband modem might cause your IP address to change again, and that would fix the problem. If you did just switch routers, switching back to the old one, and then returning to your new one might also fix the problem. If none of that helps, you'll have to contact LL support...

https://support.secondlife.com/create-case/

Select "Account Issue" from the first drop-down and "Second Life Viewer Login Issues" from the second.

Fill in the requested information and LL will get back to you.

Good luck!

Hmm..  That message can mean that Linden Lab has put an IP ban on your computer to prevent you from logging in.  That's what they do if you have committed some unspeakable violation of the TOS.  It could also mean that someone else using the same machine (or connecting through the same router) has been banned.  That's possible if you are in a residence hall or other place where many people share equipment.  Or ... it can simply mean that your router is using a dynamic IP address and has randomly hit on one that Linden Lab's servers don't like.

If you have been banned, you probably know why, and Linden Lab has sent you an e-mail to explain what limited options you may have to appeal.  If someone else nearby has been banned, you may be able to guess who, but there's not much you can do except submit a support case to explain your situation.  If you're lucky, though, it's just your router.  So .... unplug the router and your modem from the power, wait a few minutes, and then plug them back in and restart everything.  Do it two or three times if necessary.  If your router is getting a dynamic IP address, it will update it each time you reboot, so that may solve the problem.
