Where are the Linden Homes if I upgrade to Premium?

Almost everything you asked about in is the Knowledge Base at https://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Linden-Homes/ta-p/700103 .  Well, most of it.  I have absolutely no idea what a "sharded" area might be.

Linden Homes are on dozens of designated regions that have nothing but Linden Homes on them.  You are not any more likely to "stumble across" a specific person's home there than you are anywhere else in SL. 

Is it wiser to save your land premium waiver and apply it to a different parcel on the Mainland?  That's a very personal decision.  You'll get an even split on options.  The way to find out for yourself is to try a Linden Home and see how you like it.  If you don't want to keep it, abandon the parcel and go buy one of you own.  There's no risk.  After all, you already paid for the waiver.  Whether you use it on a Linden Home, or a Mainland parcel, or not at all, the price is the same.

Linden homes are located in groups of sims that are not part of the mainland which includes some open land and some water and some space between the houses so that they are not crammed to close together.

As a premium member you can buy a 512 plot as an alternative to a linden home. The advantage of a Linden home is that the building itself doesn't count against your prim count so you effectively get some free prims.

You can abandon you Linden home and either get another one or take the mainland option if you decide that it would be better for you.

You can use multiple words in the name, not sure what length restrictions are or if you can change it, you can change the home and get a new one with a new name.

Every Linden Home covers a 512 sqm parcel that is yours as soon you got it delivered. You can set i to privat use so nobody else can enter it.

If it's wiser to go buy 5112 sqm of mainland is totally up to yourself. Keep in mind a LH doesn't count to your prims, but when you go to mainland, your have to buy a house yourself ( or build it) and it will take prims in use from your total.

As long you'r owning only 512 sqm you will get no additional fees.

 

You can name the house as you want, double names also are allowed., and in the "about land"  you can change it if you want.
