Don't give up yet.  SL is NOT a web site.

You are trying to enter SL from your web browser.  Technically, that is possible, but it's not the way that most of us enter SL.  If you want to enter from a web interface, you will need to add a simple plugin to "teach" your browser what to do with the special URL  -- a SLURL -- that Sl expects. (The plugin is at http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/slurl_proxy , but note that you still need to have installed a viewer first. )  Until then, enter the way everyone else does.....

Download and install a SL viewer >>> https://secondlife.com/support/downloads/?lang=en-US

Then, find the SL icon on your desktop and click it to launch the viewer, the same way that you would launch any other program.
