I've had an issue the last month or so where I can (usually) start the SLV 2.5 and log in without any problems once, perhaps twice.

However after that if I log out and try to start the viewer again, it immediately starts to lag before even getting to the login screen.  And once it gets there, the keystrokes take FOREVER to type in my password.  And then I can't even log in after that because it basically times out.

Looking at my task manager I see the SLV is usually then taking up 50-100% of my CPU.

The only solution is to restart the computer at that point.

Is there a solution to this?

We need some information about your computer.  Launch your SL viewer but don't log in.  Under the "Help" menu click "About Second Life".  You'll see your basic computer specs that your viewer reports to the SL servers........copy and paste those specs back here.

That will help anyone who might have an idea for you.  Normally, when that happens it's another instance of SL running in the background on your computer because your operatiing system did not completely shut down the viewer when you quit the last time you were logged in.  You should be able to check that in your Task Manager to see what programs are running before you try the second log in.....if you see SL running, kill it from the Task Manager.

I'll double check next time, but I'm nearly certain that there is no other instance of SL running when I run it again.
