The forum ranks are automatic and don't have any bearing on character, skill or accuracy. They're awarded for basic ratios of participation, not content. They're a holdover from the Lithium engine that this forum is powered by and can safely be ignored.

Resident ranks (based purely on post count): Resident > Recognised resident > Honoured resident

Member ranks can Tag posts (rarely used) and comment on Knowledge Base articles (rarely useful) - rank based on mixed contributions: Member, Advisor

Contributor ranks can nominate topics for the Knowledge Base, start and edit Knowledge Base articles (not useful) - rank based on mixed contributions: Contributor

Helper ranks can edit published Knowledge Base articles - rank based on Answers, Kudos: Helper

Unused ranks: VIP
